The Kind is an attempt, however one with a lot of

life and without compromises, to be a counter to

the Swedish indie rock scene. Here you won’t find

any Kent-romance or Strokes-retro. Instead the

band moves freely between intricate drumming,

massive crescendos and a landscape of fuzz and

reverb, where stripped down screaming vocals

cut through the wall of sound when it’s needed

the most.

The four singles -

“Take Time” , “Stand Two” , “ICE” and “Only Way”

- open the door to a debut album that’s as introspective as it is cinematic.

Shimmering guitars, precise rhythms and an

obvious melodic focus shows a new focus for the

band - where each song feels like a unique scene

from the same story.

The debut album “The Kind” was released Friday

the 13th and brings with it a conclusion to what

the singles have demonstrated. While on stage

The Kind brings a heavily packed mass of reverb,

they also bring the listener down to earth as quickly as they have left it.

The post-/indie rock band from Gothenburg that is The Kind consists of seven young adults who wanted to create something new.

The result is a band that feels both without time, yet very necessary.
